Lane United FC is pleased to announce a partnership with Viking Braggot Company, a locally owned and operated brewery. Like Lane United, Viking Braggot has been serving Eugene since 2013. Viking Braggot Co. offers a full line of braggot-style beer at their two locations – in fact, they’re the only brewery in the country to exclusively brew braggots. For those new to braggot, a drink pioneered by Vikings, it is a form of mead made with both honey and barley malt, and the beers served by Viking Braggot are somewhat of a hybrid between mead and beer. As part of the partnership, Viking Braggot Company Southtowne — located just a few blocks south of Civic Park — will be selling Lane United merchandise on site. Close Quarters Partnering with Lane United means “a great deal” to Viking Braggot Owner/General Manager Jonna Threlkeld. “This partnership is something we've been hoping for ever since we heard Lane United would be playing at Civic Park right down the street from us,” said Threlkeld. Lane United General Manager Perry Hammond seconded the benefits of being so close to Civic Park: “When Dave [Galas, LUFC Managing Director] hired me, the first place we went to lunch was Viking Braggot. Soon thereafter, we had a business meeting there and I got to try some of their beer,” said Hammond. “I loved everything, and with their proximity to Civic Park, I knew we had to find a way to partner with them." Building Community “Supporting Lane United means that we are directly supporting our local community, the hard-working athletes on the team, and all of the people who care so much to make the organization what it is,” said Threlkeld, who also highlighted a more historic connection. “Both Viking Braggot Southtowne and Civic Park are built on beloved and historic grounds that burned down within the same year,” she pointed out. “To be able to connect the two landmarks on game days and continue to bring the community together is such a cool prospect. We’re all in!"
“Having some of our merchandise for sale at Viking Braggot Southtowne is just the first step to what will hopefully be a long-lasting, fruitful relationship for both parties,” added Hammond, who highlighted that the partnership would have come sooner if not for the COVID-19 outbreak.
