Lane United is pleased to announce the signing of its newest head coach, Jason Carney.
With Manny Martins recently having accepted the Women’s Head Coaching position at Utah State, Carney steps in to build on what Martins started and lead the squad during the 2021 USL League Two season.
Carney is the current Director of Coaching at F.C. Portland Soccer Academy. He started his coaching journey across the pond at Preston North End FC under the watchful eyes of Premier League legend and current West Ham United F.C. manager David Moyes.
“At Preston, I was shown what you could achieve if a team has togetherness,” said Carney, who added he has “incorporated this philosophy [his] whole coaching career.”
Jason currently holds three B licenses—from Scotland, England, and the USA—and is in the process of obtaining his A license. He has worked at every level of the game and with every age and gender. “I just love being on the practice field with players,” he remarked. “Soccer offers so much more than just winning.”
Jason has lived in Beaverton, Oregon, since 2008 with his wife, Tammy. They have five children, including Ryan, Quinn, and Ally. His daughter Emily is a professional referee in the Women’s Super League in England and Megan works in daycare.
