XIMO MIRALLES – CD NUMANCIA (SPANISH SEGUNDA B DIVISION)
In his debut with his new club, Ximo Miralles and CD Numancia got their season underway with a resounding 3-1 victory over Marino de Luanco. Miralles played the full match in goal, making a phenomenal flying save in the first half to keep the match at nil-nil. He only lost his chance at a clean sheet late in the second half when the visitors were awarded a penalty and converted.

JOHN GALAS – FC TUCSON (USL LEAGUE ONE)
Galas led FC Tucson to victory in the team’s final match of the season against Orlando Saturday night. Josh Coan netted two cutback goals—one in first half stoppage time, the next in the 90th minute—which earned him the USL League One Player of the Week award. Although Tucson ended their season shy of the playoff line, going unbeaten in their final four matches will build some momentum going into next year.
“I’m proud of the boys for their great response in the second half of the season,” FC Tucson coach John Galas said. "I don’t want to say it was a comprehensive win, but we defended exceptionally well. We had a clean sheet and we scored two goals.”
HASSANI DOTSON – MINNESOTA UNITED FC (MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER)
Dotson and Minnesota United were off to a hot start against Houston on Sunday, scoring an opening goal in the first 11 minutes. Dotson did have to come off soon after, though, due to an ankle injury sustained during a crunching collision from Adam Lundkvist. Finlay scored his brace in the 30th minute, but the Dotson-less Loons couldn’t hold off second-half equalizers from Houston and earned just a point.

KHIRY SHELTON – SPORTING KANSAS CITY (MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER)
Shelton started on the bench in Kansas City’s match against the Chicago Fire last weekend after picking up a hip injury against Nashville and missing the previous Wednesday’s encounter against FC Dallas. Against Chicaco, the striker replaced Erik Hurtado with 12 minutes left and KC scored the go-ahead goal not long after. Unfortunately, Chicago ended up equalizing in the 95th minute despite Shelton’s seven pressures to grab a 2-2 draw.
Sporting’s midweek match against Colorado was postponed due to the Rapids’ COVID concerns, but the two teams are still scheduled to meet this Saturday at Children’s Mercy Park.

Yesterday, Willis announced his retirement from soccer via a detailed Instagram post. The goalkeeper has battled injuries, including torn labrums in both shoulders that required surgeries earlier this year, as well as anxiety and depression. We’re excited to see what the future holds in store for Ben! For the time being, he’s coaching for Seattle United and looking to get into personal training. Once a Red, always a Red!
