Lane United FC kicked off their first league match of the season at Civic Park with a tough 0-2 loss to new opponent, Snohomish United. In a physical and fast-paced game, Lane showed moments of strong connection and attacking intent, but couldn’t capitalize on key opportunities.

Snohomish came out with intensity, holding the majority of possession in the first half and put constant pressure on Lane’s back line. Despite being pushed deep, Lane managed to break through at times and create dangerous chances. A penalty kick in the 12th minute would give Snohomish the early lead, followed by a second goal in the 38th after a giveaway at midfield led to a 1v1 situation with goalkeeper, Willem Ficek. An offsides header goal by Snohomish, followed shortly after a collision between #14, Griffin Rea and the Snohomish keeper, added to an intense end to the first half.

In the second half, Lane took control of possession and pushed hard for a goal. The team created several promising chances and applied consistent pressure, but couldn’t find the finishing touch. Passes in the final third struggled to connect, and despite the buildup, no shots found the back of the net and the match would conclude to a disappointing 0-2 loss.

Just days later an away match against Bigfoot FC followed. Lane conceded late in the first half due to a mistake from goalkeeper Milo Risenhoover, but responded quickly with a beautiful touch and finish by #20, Martim Sereno in the 45th minute before half-time. Lane would then take the lead in Maple Valley after a header from Brian Edelman found the back of the net in the 60th minute. Though out-shooting the opponent 26 to 7, Bigfoot would equalize in the 90+4th minute after a long throw and a failed clearance gave an open goal, shattering the Red’s celebrations.

Lane will look to rebound from the two matches with a bit of urgency, and new fire within them when they play against West Seattle Junction FC away on May 23rd. They return to Civic Park on May 31st for their rematch with Bigfoot FC. Don’t miss the action, tickets on sale now!!
