The first half was evenly played, with both teams pressing hard and controlling possession in different phases. Lane built from the back, using their defense to stay composed under Western Oregon’s consistent pressure. Both sides created opportunities but couldn’t find the net, entering halftime with nearly identical stats across shots, saves, and corners.

The second half opened with high intensity. Lane broke through in the 55th minute with a goal from number 15, Payton Buschelman assisted by number 14, Kgotlelelo (KG) Malefo. Western Oregon responded quickly however, with an equalizer in the 65th minute and continued to push forward, nearly doubling Lane’s shots on goal. Lane’s defense and goalkeeper held strong to keep the score level, but the second half proved worry-some for the Reds and they will need to be perfect on their away trip to 2x Northwest Division Champions, FC Olympia.
