Galas: “We’re Just Snakebit Right Now”

After last night’s highly competitive and hard-fought 2-0 loss to United PDX in which LUFC actually outshot their opponent, hear head coach John Galas’ and wingback Ben Foulks’ thoughts on the match.

HEAD COACH JOHN GALAS

General thoughts on the game:

“Again, box to box we were great. We’re just snake bit right now, we can’t score. It’s frustrating for the boys because we do so well in so many phases of the game, but we’re not finding the back of the net. We’re not scoring and it’s deciding games.”

On what the boys did differently to escape the high pressure early on:

“We just settled down and played. We were fine, that was sort of the theme for the rest of the game. Obviously, we had to press to try and get an equalizer. Then down two-nil we were bombing bodies forward and the game opened up a little more than it had in the beginning.”

On the objective for the last two games:

“Same as it’s always been: just try to win. Just win a game; it’s one at a time. We’ve just got to break the scoring drought. Play for pride and for each other.”

WINGER BEN FOULKS:

His thoughts on the game:

“I thought it was one of our sloppier games, for sure. I thought the first half we were a little composed, then in the second half once they got [another] goal we sort of fell apart with our decision making and positioning.”

On what allowed him to create such strong chances late in the game:

“They were pretty static as a back four so I thought if I could get in some positions off the ball, [my teammates] would run off me and I could make good runs in behind. That allowed me to get some good crosses in, but we unfortunately couldn’t capitalize. That’s the game.”

On the goal for the last two games:

“Now it’s just for pride. We have to turn it around for ourselves and the fans.”
