The Lane United FC Women’s team squared off against Portland side United PDX on Friday night at Civic Park in a defensive battle. Unfortunately, and for the second straight home game, the Reds conceded late to drop points.

After earning the first-ever point in Lane United Women’s history last week at Capital FC, the ladies will be back in action at home this Friday against fellow newcomer, United PDX. 

Assistant Coach Joao Ehlers, who was acting manager with John Galas out through a red card suspension, midfielder Dor Moskowitz, and defender Scott Gustafson spoke with us after the narrow defeat to Capital FC Atletico. 

After a convincing 5-2 win on Friday night over United PDX and with a difficult turnaround of less than 48 hours, Lane United FC dropped their second match of the season, 1-0 to visiting Capital FC Atletico.

Following the Lane United Women’s Team’s draw away to Capital FC which saw them earn their first point in team history, we spoke with Head Coach Jurgen Ruckaberle and Player of the Match Jessie Hawes.

After the Reds’ resounding 5-2 victory over United PDX in their USL League Two home opener, Assistant Coach Joao Ehlers, who took over after managing duties after John Galas’ dismissal, and players Tommy Case (two goals), Wade Muttitt (two goals), and Ethan Doud (Player of the Match) attended to the media.

The Lane United men’s team emerged victorious Friday night, defeating United PDX by a convincing score of 5-2.

The Lane United FC Women’s team achieved their first point in club history against Capital FC Atletica in an action-packed game in Salem, Oregon, on Friday night.

On Friday night, the Reds are heading back to Salem in a rematch of their first game against Capital FC Atletica. The LUFC Women are eager for their first win of the season and this match looks like a perfect opportunity. 

When defender Michael Hatcher was asked if it was good to be home, he immediately cracked a warm smile.

“Yeah,” he laughed. “Yeah, for sure.”
